May–October

Volcanic islands and a cliff coastline with the best food ashore of any charter ground, and the fullest harbours.

This is a coast where the shore excursions matter as much as the sailing. Winds are moderate summer sea breezes rather than anything structural, but traffic is heavy: ferries, hydrofoils and day boats all converge on Capri. Berths on the Amalfi coast are limited, expensive and need booking, so the week has to be planned around them rather than improvised.

A typical week

  1. Day 1 Naples or Gaeta to Ponza
  2. Day 2 Palmarola
  3. Day 3 Ischia
  4. Day 4 Procida, Corricella
  5. Day 5 Capri
  6. Day 6 Amalfi or Positano
  7. Day 7 Back to base

Roughly 120 to 150 nautical miles over the week
